Nathan “Nate” Blue is a highly respected basketball mentor, strategist, and talent advocate with over 30 years of experience in player development, college placement, and grassroots leadership. A proud Queens, New York native, Nate began his basketball journey at Newtown High School before earning his business degree from Empire State College — laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to empowering athletes.
Nate’s impact was felt early in his career through his pivotal role as coach and mentor to NBA standout Charlie Villanueva. Under Nate’s guidance, Villanueva rose to become a consensus top-three national prospect, ranked alongside LeBron James and Luol Deng, and earned McDonald’s All-American honors.
As the longtime Director of Real Scout Basketball, Nate has helped place hundreds of athletes into collegiate programs nationwide. His deep understanding of the recruiting landscape, combined with his sharp talent evaluation, has earned him a reputation as a trusted voice among coaches, athletes, and decision-makers at all levels of the game.
Nate’s résumé includes time on staff at the prestigious ABCD Camp and Hoop Group Elite Camp — two of the most respected platforms for top high school talent. He also mentored Maurice Harkless, who starred at St. John’s University before being selected 15th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Known throughout the basketball community as a connector and advisor, Nate maintains strong relationships across the NBA, college basketball, and grassroots circles. His work is defined by integrity, insight, and a relentless commitment to guiding athletes not only to the next level but through it.
